Step by step guide

First time access

1. Log in to WMU Gmail using the credentials you have received in your welcome email to activate your library account.
All our services authenticate using a combination of your WMU account and OpenAthens! You must activate your WMU account in order to use the library systems.
2. Once you have successfully logged in to Gmail using your WMU credentials you will be able to access library systems through this account. Try logging in to the main search system: EBSCO OneSearch.

You will be faced with some different login screens

3. If you encounter an OpenAthens login screen, ALWAYS choose the option on the right to "find your institution". This will lead to a Google login screen where you can enter your credentials. You can see what this looks like in this video.
Keep in mind: Due to the extent of our services the online library consists of many inter-connected systems, some require separate login. Always choose to login via the OpenAthens option in these cases.
4. If you still have troubles logging in, contact library@wmu.se, using your WMU gmail if possible. You must describe your issues in as much detail as you can, and include screenshots, in order for us to help.

To make access to the library as easy as possible log in to Google Chrome at browser lever

Log in with your WMU Google account at browser level for a smoother experience
Using Google Chrome is not mandatory, but we do recommend it or any other browser that allows browser level logins. If you are already using Chrome we recommend adding another profile with your WMU Google credentials, as shown in this video. If you are new to Chrome, follow the instructions in this section.
Logging in to Chrome at browser level will ensure that the library systems recognize you as an authorized user.

Getting started with Chrome

Some databases are not compatible with EBSCO: OneSearch, these can be found through the database list

Most databases will be easy for you to access using your WMU account. However, if you are a law student you will need to access I-law which also requires you enter your email after usual authentication.

I-law log in process:

View the video below to see how to access.

Clarksons registration process:

P.S.: Make sure to follow these instructions and to read the welcome letter and other emails sent out to you carefully.
If you still have questions or difficulties check out the contact page and send us a message.

Make sure to activate your WMU Gmail account!

Library account information is sent out to all students at the beginning of term. Check your inbox (don't forget to check your spam folder).

Most library services authenticate using your WMU Gmail account. We recommend using a browser which allows a browser level login.

How our resources work

As a library we have purchased access to a number of different databases, sites and journals. Whilst we have emalgimated most content into our OneSearch, this is not possible for all, some have unqiue login processes as detailed below.

Use the library links

Links on this site are proxied, meaning they will authenticate you via your WMU account, or IP address if on campus. Make sure to follow these links and use your WMU credentials for easier access.

It is important you always use the links supplied on this site as they will tell the database in question that you are coming from WMU. If you follow a link outside on this site the database it will not know who you are and you will not gain full access.

You can also use your OpenAthens account. The database links within your OpenAthens account are set up in the same way to provide you with preauthenticated access to our resources, minimising the number of logins required.

OpenAthens

OpenAthens links are proxied in the same way as the links of this site.
  • 1. Go to my.openathens.net
  • 2. Click "Login to MyAthens"
  • 3. Search for "World Maritime University" under the header "Find your organisation"
  • 4. You will be presented with a Google log in, enter your WMU Gmail credentials
  • 5. You will now see a list of resources to choose from. OpenAthens will ensure you have access to your selected resource.

Specific database logins

Below we have instructions for our services that require a seperate login.

EBSCO OneSearch

Through our OneSearch you may find most of the library's online content. To access the OneSearch, use the search box labeled "Search collected resources" on the front page of this site. If you are not already logged in you will see a yellow banner at the top of the page, click it to log in. Use your WMU Gmail credentials. Once this step is completed you should have full access to all resources in OneSearch.

I-law

I-law has a limited number of sequencial users. If you are being denied entry, wait and try again later when a user space is available.
An account is needed to access resources, to create an account you will need to click login and select create a corporate account using your WMU gmail account details. The WMU licence allows 5 simultaneous users at a time. If you do not see the login page as displayed in the video, this means there are the current maximum number of users of the site and you should try again later.

IMO Docs

This is a public open access account that we recommend all our students acquire. You must create your account (choose your own username and password) and use these to log in.

Start searching the main library search system

OneSearch is the main system found on the first page of this website. It connects many different sources together into one search system and is the best starting point for you to find material.
